The role of the flight instructor
Flight training combines knowledge, skill and judgment. The instructor introduces each maneuver on the ground, demonstrates it in the airplane, and then coaches the learner until performance is consistent and safe.
Every lesson should have a stated objective, completion standards, and a debrief. Recording the outcome of each lesson in the training record keeps the syllabus honest and makes stage checks straightforward.
